When it comes to improving your motorcycle riding skills, you have many options. There are countless schools and camps nationwide devoted to helping bikers learn basic to advanced skills in cornering, breaking, passing, jumping, and more. Remember, however, that there are two very different kinds of motorcycle riding—road or track racing, and off-road or motocross. Before you can begin looking for a motorcycle camp or school, there are a few factors you should consider:
- Motorcycle Focus: What kind of motorcycling are you interested in? Options include street biking, superbiking, formula biking, motocross, and more.
- Cost: The cost of racing instruction varies by track time. Motorcycle schools generally cost a few hundred dollars. Camps can cost more. How much are you willing to invest?
- Student-teacher ratio: Many motorcycle programs offer very small classes and one-on-one riding instruction.
- Length of Instruction: Most motorcycle schools offer classes ranging for 1-5 days. At the end of longer camps, you may be qualified for limited racing. Which is best for you?

- Star Motorcycle School : Track racing. Riders must have 1 year riding experience, a motorcycle of 250cc, and a leather suit, boots, and gloves. Riders are grouped by ability for group instruction. Tire mounting available.
- Cornering, Discovering the Art : Four levels of instruction as well as two-day camps. Motorcycles provided. 1 coach for every 2-3 riders. Instruction on breaking, leaning, sliding, and lap racing.
- Code Race : 2 day racing camp for experienced motorcyclists. Racing certification available at end of camp. Training on turning, braking, passing, and more. Radar speeds and video feedback.
- DHMA Motocross Academy : 3 and 4-day camps for beginning to advanced motocross riders. Food, lodging, and dirt bike's available at extra cost. Specialized weekly courses on 1 st turns, breaking/cornering, and jumping.
- Gary Bailey : 2-5 day motocross classes with lessons on breaking, cornering, jumping, body positioning, and picking lines.
